Escalation Pathway Workflow
Fresh Last Updated: January 2, 2026This workflow guides you through the escalation process after an initial appeal denial.
Escalation Decision Tree
Escalation Levels
Step-by-Step Escalation Process
Step 1: Analyze the Denial
When you receive a denial email:
| What to Look For | What It Means |
|---|---|
| "Additional documentation" | Evidence wasn't convincing enough |
| "Policy violation" | Issue still exists on profile |
| "Unable to verify" | NAP mismatch or location concerns |
| Generic response | Deep dive audit needed |
Step 2: Re-Audit Profile
Fresh Perspective
Have someone else review your profile. They'll often catch what you've missed.
Enhanced Audit Checklist:
- [ ] Business name is EXACT legal name only
- [ ] No keywords, taglines, or locations in name
- [ ] Address matches all documents precisely (St. vs Street)
- [ ] Address is eligible (not PO Box, UPS, virtual office)
- [ ] SAB address is hidden if applicable
- [ ] Phone is direct line to business
- [ ] Website is direct link (no redirects)
- [ ] Hours are accurate and match website
- [ ] All photos are genuine (no stock)
- [ ] All user access is verified
- [ ] No recent unauthorized edits applied
Step 3: Gather NEW Evidence
Critical Requirement
Your second appeal MUST include evidence not submitted in the first appeal. Same evidence = same result.
Priority New Evidence for Escalation:
| Evidence Type | Impact Level | Why It Helps |
|---|---|---|
| Video Walkthrough | Very High | Undeniable proof of physical presence |
| Lease Agreement | High | Proves legal right to address |
| Vehicle with Equipment | High | Proves legitimate trade operation |
| Multiple Invoices | Medium | Shows ongoing business activity |
| Uniforms/Branding | Medium | Supports brand identity |
Step 4: Submit Additional Review Form
Form URL: https://support.google.com/business/contact/local_appeals
Use Correct Form
DO NOT use the regular Appeals Tool for a second attempt. Use the Additional Review form specifically.
Required Fields:
| Field | What to Enter |
|---|---|
| Case ID | From denial email (REQUIRED) |
| Business Name | Exact GBP name |
| Business Address | Full address |
| Contact Name | Your name |
| Best contact email | |
| Description | See template below |
