Overview

This SOP walks you through submitting your appeal using the official Google Business Profile Appeals Tool. This is your first and best opportunity to get reinstated.

Before starting, confirm you have completed:

Step-by-Step Procedure

Step 1: Access the Appeals Tool

  1. Open your browser
  2. Go to: https://support.google.com/business/workflow/13569690
  3. Click "Start" or "Get Started"

Step 2: Sign In

  1. Sign in with the exact Google Account that manages the suspended profile
  2. If you manage multiple accounts, ensure you select the correct one
  3. You may need to verify your identity

Account Check

If you're unsure which account manages the profile, do NOT guess. Check your email for the original suspension notice to see which account received it.


Step 3: Select Suspended Profile

  1. You'll see a list of profiles associated with your account
  2. Select the suspended profile you want to appeal
  3. The tool will display the suspension reason

Step 4: Review Suspension Reason

Google will show you the stated reason for suspension. Common reasons include:

Vague Reasons?

Google's suspension messages are often generic. The specific issue is usually found through your own audit in SOP 002.


Step 5: Submit Initial Appeal

  1. Click "Submit Appeal" or "Request Review"
  2. You'll receive confirmation that your request was initiated
  3. Look for the "Add Evidence" link

Step 6: Handle the 60-Minute Evidence Timer

Critical: Timed Upload

Once you click "Add Evidence," a 60-minute countdown begins. You CANNOT pause it. If time expires, your appeal submits without evidence.

Preparation Saves You: Because you already have your ZIP file ready (from SOP 003), this is simple:

  1. Click "Add Evidence"
  2. Select your pre-prepared ZIP file
  3. Upload completes in minutes
  4. Plenty of time remaining

Step 7: Write Your Appeal Message

The form includes a text box for additional information. Keep it:

  • Short (3-5 sentences max)
  • Professional (no emotions or complaints)
  • Specific (mention what you fixed)

Appeal Message Template

To the Google Business Profile Team,

Our profile was suspended for [stated reason]. We have reviewed
Google's guidelines and have corrected all issues. Specifically,
we have:

1. [First correction - e.g., "Corrected our business name to
   match our official business license"]
2. [Second correction - e.g., "Verified our address matches
   all official documents"]
3. [Third correction if applicable]

We have attached our business license, utility bill, and
[other documents] to verify our business legitimacy. We
believe our profile is now in full compliance and respectfully
request reinstatement.

Thank you.

What NOT to Write

  • Long explanations or backstory
  • Complaints about Google or the process
  • Threats or demands
  • Excuses or blame
  • Promises about future behavior

Step 8: Final Submission

  1. Review your message
  2. Confirm evidence files are attached
  3. Click "Submit" or "Send"
  4. Screenshot the confirmation screen

Step 9: Confirmation Email

Within 24-72 hours, you should receive:

  • Email confirming receipt of appeal
  • Case ID number (SAVE THIS - you'll need it if denied)
  • Estimated timeline for review

Email Monitoring

Check your inbox AND spam folder regularly. Add Google's email addresses to your contacts to prevent filtering.

  • [ ] Do NOT make major edits to your profile
  • [ ] Do NOT contact Google support repeatedly
  • [ ] Do NOT create a new profile

After submission, confirm:
